Web Design

I was in High School when I discovered the World Wide Web. I joined the computer club so I could get on the internet to check out different sites.  I started web design when I was in college through free hosts like Angelfire and GeoCities.  I learned HTML outside of my degree but it was not so different.  Soon I expanded further by using CGI/CSS/Java Scripts.  Once I had taken Database course during college, I loved how it could organize massive data, so I started learning PHP with MySQL.

Along the years, I had started many sites for my hobbies. However, I don't seem to have any luck with web hosts. Every time I got a site up, the host either ended up with a fire or they decided to move to a different server. As a result none of my sites were up for longer than 1 or 2 years, or they ended up in the black hole somewhere. It was in late 2005 when I finally got a stable web host, and by then I was too busy with work so I didn't put more effort in keeping the sites up. Now that I am getting a break in 2013, I am putting all the previous sites I have done here for demo only.  Please excuse my poor grammar in the sites listed below.

  • JoJo's Part 5 Shrine - this was my first site dedicated to Part 5 of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. It was started in 2002. There were hidden links to Part 4 of the series. However all those files were lost and I could not find any backups on my drives. So those links were disabled.
  • Li's Illusion Version 1 - this was the first site that I designed as my personal website. It was up from 2004 to 2005. It was originally written in PHP with MySQL. However all the database was already lost so I converted it back to HTML to show the design only.
  • GioGio's Bizarre Adventure - This was almost a complete site dedicated to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Manga if I had finished it. The whole site was made out of tables with HTML and there are over 180 pages to maintain. So if I ever wanted to add a new section I had to update all those pages. It was a pain so that's why I started switching over to PHP and looked at CMS. The site was started back in early 2004.  Most of the files were recovered along with few old and obsolete links on the menu.
  • Ninja Turtle Kotaro - this site was started to keep track of my pet turtle.  I had setup a webcam to keep monitoring it while I was at work.
  • King of Games - this site was started for my obsession of the Yu-gi-oh trading card game. However most of the details were lost on the database. I love the design of it, and just like most of my sites there are hidden treasure. I still have my old deck and all the cards that I collected back in 2003-2005.
  • Li's Anime DB - this site was my first try at making a CMS (Content Management System). Using PHP and MySQL, I was able to add reviews through the web page any time I needed. It also has links to PHPbb forum for news updates. People viewing the webpage can add reviews through the website also. However, then I came across some open source CMS online like Joomla, Drupal, and WordPress. I started looking at them and never went back to develop this site any further. The site was started in 2004. Right now all the php has been removed and converted to a simple HTML page.
  • Li's Illusion Version 2 - this was the 2nd design for my personal website. It was up from 2005 to 2007.
  • Celica Project - this site was dedicated to my first car that I bought. I have used PHP with MySQL to keep track of all the pictures. It was started from 2005 to present.
