So like I said, scene 3 is short, so I did that all in one go. That's done. I finished 5.5 pages and I'm on scene 4 of chapter 2 which is page 125. (I update the first post with a list of when and how much I do every time, in case anyone's wondering. So you can see my approximate pace there at more of a glance.)
That scene corresponds to this video, for those keeping track:http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm17771645
There are only two more videos out and then I'll be ahead of them (Woo!). The person usually adds one every 2-3 months and they usually equate to one scene. I do enjoy watching these as I go along.
K uh... As for where we are in the grand scheme of things, I'm about a third of the way through The Book now. 125 x 3 = 375. And the book had 380 pages in it. Scene 4 of Chapter 2 has 18 pages in it, one of which has no text, just a picture of Okuyasu, so basically 17 pages. So THAT is something I can't do all at once unless I just go crazy and translate The Book all day. Which I might do, I dunno. I'm always teetering at the brink of insanity anyhow.
Here's a quick rundown of the rest of chapter 2. For the 0.0001 of you out there keeping track of this (So, just for my own reference, really).
Scene 4: p125-142 (18 Pages)
Scene 5: p143-149 (7 Pages)
Scene 6: p150-167 (18 Pages)
Scene 7: p168-170 (3 pages)
Scene 8: p171-177 (7 pages)
So 53 pages left in this chapter.
Then page 178 is blank and Chapter 3 starts on page 179.
Chapter 3 has 8 scenes and ends on page 256. So that's 179-256, 78 pages.
Chapter 4 has 7 scenes and goes from page 257 to 360, 104 pages.
Chapter 5 has 2 scenes and goes from page 361 to 376, 16 pages.
Then there's a 4 page post script by Otsuichi talking about how he came to write The Book. This is the part that mentions he threw out 2000 pages and whatnot.
There ya go. That's the scope we're dealing with here. Obviously, a lotta scenes have waaay different lengths than others. I think scene 5 of chapter 4 is 40 pages. Whereas Scene 6, following it, is just over 1 page. I like to keep track of these things as sort of checkpoints. Feels like I'm completing something, even though it's not really complete and nobody's really reading this except maybe at the ends of chapters or when I finish the whole thing. But I'm definitely getting somewhere. Just gotta keep going one page, one sentence at a time...
