I think a good place for either a horror game or movie would be under the ocean in some sort of undersea base. Much like Outer Space, under the ocean gives an intense and oppressive atmosphere, you can't go anywhere other than the confounds of whatever base it is because outside is nothing but water. The other thing is the lighting under the ocean can get extremely dark to the point sunlight doesn't even reach. There's also the fear of hulls or windows breaching and water being let in and also the fear of some humanoid creature or monster to take a peek inside through one the windows.

I've never been too keen on underwater bases for horror movies. though SOMA was great (the setting didn't impact the horror whatsoever). I prefer really mundane settings like what Conjuring or Silent Hill can offer, in that the horror is invading our world.
On the other hand, I really like it when people are confronted to nature. Caves, Antartica, the desert, the forest. Putting people in a deadly environment as well as putting them against something in order to emphasize how vulnerable they are.

When it comes to the environment being the setting of a horror film such as the Caves, Antartica, the desert, and the forest, the fear comes from the isolation. Thou these environment are usually complimented by a sort of monster or killer.

example:

The Desert - The Hills Have Eyes

Antarctica - The Thing

The Forest - Predator

Caves - The Descent 1 & 2.

Edit: I've gotten around to watching some of the Phantasm films and they are really fun to watch espicially the 2nd movie.

I'm a quite a fan of the Phantasm movies. A new one just came out but not directed by Don Coscarelli. You should check out his movie Bubba Ho-Tep if you haven't watched it.

They made a fifth Phantasm movie, that sounds good but didn't Angus Scrimm pass away early this year, How are they able to make another one without the original Tall Man, wouldn't feel the same. I like to think out of most horror movie villains and slashers, the "Tall Man" would be sort of top tier. He has abnormal strength, he's towering at 6'4, he never dies and manages to keep coming back, he commands a legion of undead dwarves, and his weapon of choice are these steel-spheres with weapons of the razor variety. Also, I hear Bruce Campbell was in Bubba Ho-Tep, so I'll have to give it a watch.

Pretty good Crossover film, it has decent kills from both Freddy and Jason and the final fight was a very fun watch. The crossover was good enough to get a comic spin-off called "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash" and its sequel "Freddy vs Jason vs Ash: The Nightmare Warriors"

Angus Scrimm passed away after they had shot the movie.

Oh, well in that case, at least they got him to play his best role before he passed away.

While he didn't get alot of speaking roles in the movies, when he did speak, it was always imposing

"The Autopsy of Jane Doe" is one of the best horror movies of this decade. Creepy and tense as fuck.

I want to take a moment to make a memorial for one of the most influential directors in horror and the creator of the main stream zombie we see in movies today

Image

On July 16th, 2017, George A. Romero creator of: Night of Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the dead has recently passed away. May his legacy of the modern day zombie live on forever.

(R.I.P.
George A. Romero,

February 4th,1940 - July 16th, 2017)
